Mom Guilt. Anxiety. Stress.
We tried the steroid cream. It worked…for a little while. But the red irritated rash, the blisters, and the pain: It always came back on my 9-month-old.
And so did the Mom guilt. I am her mom; I should be able to protect her.
Months in and months out: No answers.
I tried elimination diets. I tried oatmeal baths. I tried all the expensive creams from every specialist we saw. Nothing helped long term. She was still in pain. Her skin raw. And my heart ached.
After an extremely difficult doctor’s visit when the dermatologist told me to give my baby girl a bleach bath (No different on the body than a chlorinated pool, he said)…
I made it out to my car and broke down crying into my steering wheel. I was failing as a mother.
